From its early days in 1885, when it was initially named the Tempe Normal School up until its 2008 status as the third largest university in the United States, Arizona State University has an established reputation of delivering a high caliber education to it's rapidly growing student population of nearly 65,000 students.  ASU currently offers at least half of the high school graduates in the Arizona school system a college education and that number continues to grow.  The university's president has made it clear that they expect to have a student body of over 90,000 by the year 2020.  The size of the student body of Arizona State University help to make Tempe the seventh largest city in Arizona and growing.

The Tempe Campus of Arizona State University is home to many unique and famous buildings and features.  One of the most architecturally  significant buildings is the Grady Gammage Memorial Auditorium, just a walk from Rancho Las Palmas Apartments at the intersection of Mill Avenue and Apache.  The Gammage was possibly the last public commission by Frank Lloyd Wright.  Another well known building on the ASU campus is Old Main, which is the first building of the Tempe Normal School, built in 1898.

A notable geological feature of Tempe, which is visible throughout Arizona State University is the Tempe Butte, better known by the students of ASU as "A" Mountain.  The famous Sun Devil Stadium is built up against Tempe Butte, and is mentioned in the schools fight song:

Both Rancho Las Palmas Apartments and Boulder Creek Apartments are located near the Tempe Campus of Arizona State University, however Rancho Las Palmas Apartments is just a short walk away.
